PROJECT

George Rydell Constructions were engaged to construct a unique development within the Goodman Port Melbourne Industrial Estate in the emerging urban precinct of Fishermans Bend. Works were completed on an accelerated program despite multiple lockdowns and construction restrictions happening throughout the project. The project also had a number of stakeholders given the development was on a Woolworths leasehold and the site fell under a state government scheme with both DELWP and City of Port Phillip needing to provide development approval.

DETAILS

The works involved repurposing and extending an existing 13,000 m2 warehouse to house a new full-line Woolworths supermarket, Dan Murphy’s, café, kiosk tenancy and undercover carpark for approximately 200 vehicles. Several new initiatives have been implemented throughout the Woolworths store including electronic shelf labelling throughout, scan and go checkouts and a direct to boot collection area for online shopping.
